EMERGENCY RELIEF
When crisis strikes, those already experiencing poverty are hit first and hardest. The Emergency Relief Program transforms compassion into immediate action during emergencies that disproportionately impact vulnerable communities.

Our approach is simple:
identify urgent needs in underserved communities during crisis situations, then respond with direct, unconditional support that helps families maintain their dignity and stability. No red tape, no waiting periods—just immediate help when it matters most.
PAST INITIATIVES:
-
-
Through our data-driven, dignified process, we identified a group of East Oakland families experiencing housing insecurity and provided them with direct financial grants and technology. Our goal was to remove barriers, respond quickly, and put resources directly into the hands of families when they need it most. $130,000 in money and new computers was distributed to 50 individuals across 9 families.

LETTERS FROM ALTADENA: WILDFIRE RELIEF
-
For Altadena families who lost everything they had in the Eaton fire, the road to recovery will not be quick. We're responding with immediate, unconditional grants to help these families rebuild their lives, preserve their community, and maintain their dignity while on that road. Because losing everything shouldn’t mean losing hope. $255k in grants and care packages was distributed to 94 individuals across 20 families

COVID-19 RESPONSE
-
Delivered essential PPE and educational supplies to underserved communities, ensuring students could continue learning safely during the pandemic. $56,000 was spent on PPE, hand sanitizer stations, hand dryers, washers/dryers, new chromebooks and indoor school shoes to serve over 1100 individuals in Chicago and Oakland.
-
Like all Letters initiatives, our Emergency Relief Program maintains our core commitment: every penny donated goes directly to families in need, turning moments of crisis into opportunities for community resilience.
